What is Lifeline?
Lifeline is a federal benefit program that helps qualifying households lower the cost of phone or internet service. Eligibility is based on current program rules and is generally limited to one benefit per household.
Who may qualify for Lifeline?
Households may qualify through income or through participation in a qualifying program such as Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit, or certain Tribal programs.
Is a free iPhone guaranteed?
No. Some current offers may include Apple or refurbished iPhone devices, but a free iPhone or free government iPhone is not guaranteed. Availability depends on state, provider, inventory, eligibility and promotion rules.
Can I choose a specific phone?
A specific brand, model, storage size, color, condition or shipment date is not guaranteed. Customers may receive another available smartphone if the requested device is unavailable.
Is Air Free Phone a government agency?
No. Air Free Phone is a United States business that provides Lifeline information, eligibility preparation and application assistance. It is not the FCC, USAC or a government website.
Can more than one person per household receive Lifeline?
Lifeline is generally limited to one benefit per household. A household means people who live together and share income and expenses.
What documents may be requested?
Applicants may be asked for proof of program participation, income, identity, address or household status depending on the verification process and current rules.
